The chrome in either barrels bore will still be intact long after the throat is gone and the gun doesn't shoot 4MOA groups anymore and still have chrome in the bore when the bolt will no longer headspace safely. This is a BCM 16" 556. chambered, midlength, lightweight, chrome lined and hammer forged. barrel, 1/7 twist, factory assembled upper. This was purchased a few. months ago and other than a rough sight-in at an indoor range is has not. been shot. It can be seen on BCM's website here. The lower is a Stag with a DPMS LPK, nothing fancy.

The mk2 is bravos own and stronger upper. It's stronger but only in ways that make no practical difference. A milspec upper receiver will go hundreds of thousands of rounds before the cam path wears out. One of the benefits BCM claims for the MK2 is enhanced rigidity leading to fewer bolt lug failures due to misalignment with the barrel extension.
